Delivered by Trish McLellan, Director of Engagement and Niamh Warnock, Engagement and Relationship Manager (both non-practising solicitors), this session gives attendees the opportunity to reflect on the conversations and interactions they navigate every day at work. The session is relevant to everyone across the legal sector. We all face difficult and challenging conversations, influenced by the situation, the people involved and the nature of the interaction
Work relationships with colleagues and clients can sometimes be complicated and challenging. This session explores how emotions affect our work and our interactions. Practical tools will be shared to help boost confidence, respond with empathy, keep healthy boundaries, and know when and how to escalate concerns.
The training will cover:
- The business case for psychologically healthy workplaces
- Creating supportive working environments
- Looking after yourself when work is tense or difficult
- Understanding the importance of empathy
- How to listen well
- Handling difficult conversations including providing constructive feedback
- Maintaining boundaries
- When and how to escalate concerns
- Self-care and practical tips to reflect after challenging interactions
- Accessing appropriate resources
