Whether it is giving feedback, raising concerns or challenging unrealistic expectations, difficult conversations can be stressful. In the legal sector, hierarchy and heavy workloads can make speaking up feel even harder.

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, join us on Thursday 14 May from 12 to 1pm for a free webinar exploring how to handle difficult conversations with colleagues, managers, teams and clients.

Justine Thompson

Justine (Joss) Thompson is the Executive Director of the InterLaw Diversity Forum and a workplace culture and inclusion specialist with over 20 years’ experience in professional services firms.

Through workplace culture audits and workshops on psychological safety and bystander intervention, Justine works closely with lawyers and business services professionals to build confidence in approaching sensitive and difficult conversations. She has also spoken openly about her own mental health experiences and is committed to tackling stigma in the legal sector.

Rupa Mooker

Rupa Mooker studied law at the University of Glasgow, graduating with an LLB (Hons), before obtaining her Diploma in Legal Practice. She specialised in employment law after qualifying as a solicitor, and has advocated for diversity, equity, and inclusion within the legal profession since her career began. Her work in mental health and wellbeing, increasing representation of individuals from ethnically diverse backgrounds, and improving socio-economic diversity within workplaces led to her current role at a global law firm where she now drives policy on diversity, inclusion and belonging, both locally and globally.

Rupa volunteers on the following committees – Scottish Ethnic Minorities Lawyer’s Association (SEMLA), BBC Scottish Advisory Committee on Religion & Ethics, EDI & Engagement Committee Glasgow 2026 (Commonwealth Games) and Action for Children (Scotland National Advisory). Rupa is also a BBC Scotland contributor (tv & radio), speaker and events host, award-winning radio presenter, and volunteers at her local Gurdwara, advising young people on employability and career matters.

Andrew Croft

Andrew Croft is a Partner at Beale & Co and specialises in advising those in construction and infrastructure (mainly architects, engineers, other consultants and contractors) on contracts and project queries. Andrew has worked on some amazing projects including NR’s first alliancing contract, Elizabeth Line, HS2, Thames Tideway, Hinkley, Sizewell, Fusion energy and Swansea Tidal Power. He helped lead key strategic issues, including the Building Safety Act and Digital and AI.

Andrew loves running and is a regional representative for Legal Runner. He is also a top 20 Legal Linkedinfluencer and talks a lot about running and the benefits for mental health.
