Support our TCS London Marathon runners (26 April 2026)

News

Two Welsh runners, Law Society President Mark Evans and Cardiff-based solicitor Kayleigh Wilding, will run the TCS London Marathon to raise funds and awareness for mental health in the legal sector, alongside employment law solicitor Matt Ottley.

Mark is a keen runner and the founder of LegalRunner, the running community for the legal sector.

Running has been an important part of Kayleigh’s life, helping her build friendships and manage the pressures of working in the legal sector.

"I greatly value the work of Legal Runner in promoting the benefits of running for improving mental wellbeing and am running for LawCare to raise awareness of this hugely valuable service."

Together, the runners are taking on the marathon to highlight the pressures many people working in law face and to raise funds for LawCare, the mental health charity for the legal sector, which provides direct, confidential support through its helpline and online chat.

Mental health and wellbeing have been a central focus of Mark Evans’s presidency. He has encouraged open conversations across the sector and championed healthier workplaces.

Since taking up running in 2019, Mark has completed a 10K, half marathon, marathon and an ultramarathon. He also founded LegalRunner, a running community for people working in law that now has nearly 2,000 members. LawCare is the official charity partner of LegalRunner.

The London Marathon is a huge challenge, but it’s a fantastic opportunity to support LawCare and raise awareness of the importance of mental health and wellbeing in the legal sector.

Kayleigh said:

“Running the Marathon for LawCare is the perfect opportunity to give back to the service that helped me realise that what I was going through and experiencing was not okay and hopefully it will be the final piece of the puzzle for me to get back to who I was again.”

Matt secured a place in the marathon ballot and is using the opportunity to support LawCare, raising awareness of the pressures in the legal sector and the support available to those who need it.
