Thank you to everyone who joined our volunteer celebration on Monday 17 November 2025. The energy, expertise, compassion and warmth you brought to the room (and into the Slido responses) made the event something really special. Your reflections highlighted the time, patience, and thought you bring to every call, message, and peer support connection.
It was great to hear volunteers and champions talk about caring for yourself, stepping back when needed, the role of supervision, communication challenges, and the emotional demands of this work. Thank you Mark, Elaine and Eric for sharing your stories.
One word to describe volunteering this year?
Heart warming, rewarding, inspiring, unpredictable, fulfilling, eye-opening… and perhaps our favourite: “the gift that keeps on giving.”
Proudest moments in 2025
Volunteers shared a wide range of moments that stood out for them this year – from empowering callers to take steps forward, to supporting fellow neurodivergent lawyers and students who valued having someone who truly understood their challenges. Many spoke about:
- recognising the value of listening without giving advice
- appreciating how powerful it can be simply to give someone space to talk
- hearing from callers that “just talking” helped confidence return after a difficult time
- getting positive feedback from peer support connections
- realising they’re not alone, and that LawCare really does make a difference
Summing up the afternoon
The strongest theme by far was community. Volunteers described feeling energised, optimistic, connected, motivated, and galvanised by being together.
We’re also hugely grateful to RPC for hosting us, taking such great care of us all, and treating us to such lovely food.
Finally, a big thank you to Andy Darnton for leading the session, keeping us on time, and making us laugh so much.
